Deadlifts on its own day?
Hello everyone,
Maybe I'm thinking about this more so than need be. I'm trying to figure out whether or not I should do deadlifts on its own day or not.
I do them on back day and my workout routine goes like this:
Bent-over rows: 1 warm up, 5 @ 15, 10, 8, 6, failure.
One-arm db rows: (chainsaw) 3 @ 12, 10, 8.
Dead lifts: 5 @ 15, 12, 10, 8, failure.
My back is always torched after this routine, but I'm wondering would I get better results doing deads on its own? Or should I continue with what I'm already doing? I'm thinking I might be able to lift heavier? I don't know till I try.
So, what do you guys, gals think?

do deadlifts first, then bent-over rows, and then sometin eles. swich it up bro! Most powerlifters i know only do deadlift days but if you traning like a bodybuilder there no piont as we train for size and strenght is secondary but it sure does motivate you. You could try different routines, deadlift only days and swich up some other things, it always good to change up your routines and excercises.

my back day:
pull ups - 4 sets
pull overs (machine)supersetted with pull ups
bent over rows 5 normal grip 8 - 10 reps not to failure
bent over rows 3 sets very wide light 3/4 of what i was doing with last set
low pulls hammer, or high pulls hammer, or dumb bell rows, or one arm cable rows. three sets heavy
then i do dead lifts - at that point my back is warmed up and rested from the bent overs... if i do both dead lifts and bent overs rows too close togather i get to much "back pump" and it almost cramps/locks up
so my point is if you have a worry about your back (like i do) i warm it up, let it rest a little, then do it...
i weigh 225 lbs 6 foot 3, and i dead lift 355 for 8 reps... bent overs i do up to 315 for 5 reps...
good luck

I've gone that route before, "dead lifts last." My body just feels so taxed after that I don't want to do anything else.. It's kind of like when I do squats, I usually go calfs, lunges, squats and save the biggest muscle group for last.
I just don't know whether or not I'm hindering my muscle gains, by saving the biggest muscle group for last?

I do pull ups then deads.
But yes, you should be doing deads first
Do all the big compound movements first
In your case, deads, bent over bb rows, 1 arm db rows

How long are your rest times?
If your really that tired and taxed, rest a few extra minutes.

I do deadlifts all on there own. Sunday is deadlift day. In the past I never noticed a defined thickness in my back but since I have been doing this I have thickened up tremendously. Separates the big boys in the gym from the pansies that by looking at them you can tell they only work arms and chest.
