    cardio help

i figured my heart rate to be around 150 from using the calculating formula. i i'm 38 & havent done much cardio. just weight training. now in redards to the 150 number, if it gets higher, do i slow my pace down to get my heart rate closer to 150? do i keep the same pace regardless of my heart rate knowing the more cardio i do, my heart rate will eventually reduce on its own? hope this makes sense. i usually do an interval type program on an elyptical.

your mhr isn't a magic number.

think of it more as a range.

it's helpful to stay within this range to aid in fat burning and to avoid muscle loss.

Ok first I would start you cardio first thing after you wake up...
HR at 80% for at least 20 to 30 min...if you are looking to burn fat longer if you are not worried about burning some muscle...so you are saying 150 is your range. I would try and keep it around 145 to 165 the whole time...JMO

    yes.

personally, I find staying at a slightly lower hr (than my thmr) for a longer duration burns fat better, without eating into muscle. but this could just be me.

Ditto, I find 120-130 to be the sweet spot for burning fat and saving muscle.
