I'm very curious about catabolism and have been researching why and what causes catabolism from this site and others. This has led to research on the breakdown of alcohols and now I am confused because when I began working out seriously, I was drinking at night very heavily and was still growing very fast. Within 8 months I was big and cut up in size. After some time, I ended up stoppin the gym for some time because I was extremely overloaded with schoolwork and ****ing writing papers (what a mistake), and while still drinking heavily at night every night I lost all that muscle FAST within 2-3 months. I was skinny as a twig. I been back 2 the gym now for about 9 months now and rebuilt all my lost gains.

The fact that i lost my gains explains the catabolism of alcohol but what about constant gains while lifting and drinking? People stress how catabolic alcohol is, but I'm asking somebody out there who knows professionally, at what rate is it catabolic? Does anybody have any professional facts and figures of exact or round about statistics of how catabolic alcohol is? Or does anabolic processes from bodybuilding outweight catabolic losses thus muscle gain as opposed to loss? Or if there is any other alternate reasons why I succeeded in my gains, what are they? thanks.
