    Best straps

When I am deadlifting, my grip even with straps can not keep up with the weight I pull. So I tried some Harbinger hooks today, and I don't know what I did wrong with them, but they seemed dangerous, and didn't improve my grip.

Does anyone know of some strap or device, that actually locks your hands to the bar? I always try to improve my grip, but when I'm training back I want to deadlift as much as possible.

We have the same problem bro. Thin towel works fine for me I'll tie it to my wrist then wrap it to the bar.
I use gloves and wrist support together with the towel.

I tried hooks, maybe I'm not using them right but straps seem more effective. How do you use them?

I will probably try this next week. I am going to look into buying some new straps also. API has some that have rubber in them I guess that could help. I thought yesterday about getting some old truck inner tube and cutting it and making it into a rubber strap, I have never seen them. Or possibly having velcro sewed on to a pair of straps.

Workout your grip and your forearms bro... Straps should be more than enough to help you lift 5 plates, i'm not knocking you. But i don't think you need to find a better route than straps, just make your grip stronger

I agree, that's why I don't use straps until I have to. I don't think my grip is weak, but I'm not one of the gifted ones that can deadlift really heavy weights without no straps. When I'm working my back, back is my priority, forearms are secondary.

Have you tried over/under? I myself can't do it for the life of me, i lift crooked and stuff when i try. But my friend can lift over/under very well, or maybe even over/under while wearing straps. Coleman does that

For 5 plates I would go with a quality strap like APT or possibly the hooks if you're ballsy. There's really only 1 way I know to use the hooks. That's strap them on and hook....

APT make some nice lifting straps. Get the REALLY wide ones.. like 2" wide straps. I can hold on to 850+ with these straps.

I know what you mean by ballsy, I didn't like the hooks, I almost dropped the bar and broke my legs. They are Harbingers, seems like if the hook was a little longer it would work better.

So wider is better? What about the ones with the rubber in them, do they seem to help?

Yeah, most of my lifting gear is APT. No I don't get any freebies for mentioning them, they just have a quality product line.
