i just read where you need a wide grip to get full benefit , i have always used a narrow grip what is the correct way . or is it just preference.

switch it up....
good one did not think about that
if you'd like, post up your exact chest day... we'll take a look at it
do what works for you.
throw the smith in too
well too narrow grip forces more tricep activity but shouler width is fine. incline smiths with reverse grip, this will really hit your upper chest
Can always change the degree of incline aswell. I really am a fan of 30-35% you will be suprised at the difference just a few degrees make.
slow down on the neg and isolate... this works best for me, stop using 2ndary muscles, like activating your tri's... i get sore every week when i do chest
Incline smith reverse grip for chest??? I have never tried it but sure sounds like a tricep exercise to me.
I prefer incline dumbbells over bench.
I always go medium wide to target the chest more and disengage the triceps and front delts. Keep your back flat, but expand your ribcage out for a good full range of motion. I often visualize pushing my shoulder blades together at the bottom of the movement then pulling them apart as i go up and concentrate on using my pecs.
Bring the weight down slowly and pause for a split second at the bottom to expand your chest then push the weight up quick and steady
Good luck.
