personally i think it is overtraining, what do ya'll think

    12 plates x 25 reps
each set was superset with leg extensions to failure
ballet squat with plates 3 x 12 superset with sissy squat to failure
lunges with hip flexor machine superset
    single leg curls

I just bashed on a guy for recommending a 35 set chest workout to another member but I would need to know how many sets were done on the lunges, legs curls and extensions before coming to any conclusions on the above.

I was just thinking of that post when I saw this.

Anyway, that would be over-training for me, personally.

i would assume a minimum of 3 as that is what is normally done when training with this person

depends on if you are counting the warm ups(i think 6 is a bit excessive) and supersets as 1 set i guess

I remember a time "awhile back" when I would go into the gym to squat and literally go with sets 135x1-225x1-315x2-405x2-465x1 (sets not reps) and then move on to other exercises. Now days it takes me at least 5-6 warm up sets with an empty bar and 135 before I can get my knees loosened up to start adding plates. So for me I dont find the 6 warm up sets excessive, especially for legs. As far as the total sets, yes 14 supersets is more than I could recover from and more than I feel is needed.

I had the privilege of training with a guy gettting ready for Nationals a few years back and he did the same type of insane leg workouts. I can honestly say I NEVER once made it through an entire leg workout without puking.

Leg size is mostly determined by brief high-intense workouts and ones genetics, not the ability to perform endurance type exercise in one, long, drawn-out training session.

This leg workout should be split into two weekly training sessions!
