Correlation between decline bench press and weighted dips?
I've been told that weighted dips can be thought of as an extreme decline bench press. So my question is: is there any correlation between how much you can decline bench press and how much you can do on weighted dips? Likewise, will a stronger decline bench press noticeably increase how much you dip or vice versa? I've been told by one person that there's little to no correlation between how much you can dip and your flat bench, but I would like more opinions and thoughts on this.

IMHO, NO!
Dips, push-ups, pull-ups and sit-ups can only get better in my opinion by doing more of that perticular exercise, nothing else directly influences or makes it easier.
Opinions will vary im sure...Last edited by kickinit; 04-10-2009 at 07:17 PM.

For me it's all related. Dips make my flat bench better, etc.
I think it's nuts to say that there's little to no correlation between how much you dip and how much you bench press. You're using the same muscles, of course there's a correlation.
