    another cardio question!

today I decided to change it up a bit. I started on the tm. 10 degree incline at 3.0 mph ( walking ) for the first 5 min then changed to 0.0 incline and 4.0 mph for the next 5 min ( light jog ). And then so on and so on for 30 minutes. My hr stayed between 122 and 132 for the entire time. My only ques is I only burned 225 calories. If I do the entire routine walking at 10 deg. @3.0 mph I burn 300cals. what should I do? Im 38, 5'7 and 187 looking to get a little leaner for summer (180lbs would be great). I also do cardio 5X/week w/good diet.

20-30 minuts is my recommendation post workout because you definately will need to feed the body the carbs and protein.. i would do am as well, it this is ideal for you. yes that means 2x a day or when you do cardio, in the am with 1 scoop of a lean whey (very lean), up to 45 minutes would work, then feed with your carb/pro breakfast

am cardio is out of the question because I start work at 5am. but I got the picture. also the majority of carbs is for b-fast and pwo anyways. so I guess as long as my hr stays below 127 for a min of 30 min/ 5 days/week im golden???

My advice would be to not even look at how many calories you burned. What's important is your heartrate, as eattrainrest said. Keep it between 60% and 70% of your max and you're good to go.

i look at my calories burned because i need the number to add to my activity level (calories burned during a workout which i have to add to compensate with food), but other than in your case its a small margin.

I just go with what's worked for me. My diet basically stays the same, so if I am not losing fat when cutting, I know to increase the duration, but I know many who do it your way. Whatever works for you, the main thing is heartrate though IMO.

its all about consistency and patience. two things people like to exercise the least I do cardio 5-6 days a week every week. 30 min post workout and 45 minutes on a non workout day. i like play that delicate balance of having muscle and staying lean. Just to add to my comment about consistency, ive been doing this type of routine for a year come may 3. being fit is for life. not something you do for a few months. keep that in mind and you will look how you want to look in no time.

I guess Im slightly impatient because I just got back from vegas from my bachelor party and while I was there I completely fell off the program; eating and drinking everything in site. I know what I have to do because I was fine before I had left. Now I probably need another week or 2 to get back on track. Just wanted some different ideas. Thanks to all!!!!!!!!!
