    Crossfit...blah...

Just wondering if anyone here participates in this stuff. And if so what they thought.

They have these competition like things. Saw some of the guy lifting some little kettle bells and all the guys look scrawny. They talk about how the workouts makes you puke. Wow...come get in the squat rack with me...

Was not impressed but I'm guessing this crossfit stuff is more aerobic that anaeorbic.

I heard it was a good workout for fighters and the alike, looking for that cardio edge.

Haven't tried it myself, but maybe something similar to P90x, which is pretty ****ing hard lol...

How do you start cross fit?
Do you just start with whatever the daily workout is and continue from there?

All kinds of different stuff.. thats what makes crossfit so damned awesome... it focuses on everything... u can switch it tho.. say it says row 400m ... you can supplement it to like run 400m instead... tailor the workout to your needs/abilities... ya know??

I got you bro...MMA guys like it. But would you personally perform this type of workout day in day out and expect hypertrophy to result?

I get the concept...just saying that vast majority of these cult people participating are little guys. But I'm sure that is what they are into...

I'd try it...would not make it part of my permanent routine. Kind of reminds me of that 300 workout. I'm sure it kicks your arse...but I but those skinny guys could not hack a week of GVT with me either.

crossfit prepares you for the unexpected. the ability to arise to any circumstance and perform well, wether that be volleyball at the beach, climbing a mountain, running up a burning building, etc...

thats why not just mma, but fire fighters, police, state police, the marines, special forces, your mother, my mother, his mother all train because it prepares you for everyday life.

id agree that its not a bodybuilding workout, but to say that all crossfitters are small... thats that same type of annoying assumption that little people say to bigger guys in the gym, your only that big cause of steroids.

ive been involved in training athetes for many years now, and i throughly use crossfit programing with my guys. its perfect on focusing on the 10 different aspects of fitness.

now your not going to find jack-diesel looking guys, with arms so big they cant wipe their own butts, but you will find some of the top athletes in the world. crossfit olympics are coming up, look at those competitors and you should beable to atleast have respect. or look at crossfitfootball.com , and realize that, many professional football players utilize the programing.
and if you cant tell i am a crossfitter...

Yeah just the level 1 cert. I got into it for a while but now I'm back into hitting the weights. It's pretty good stuff though.

$100 says all those bashing CF, are the same guys who can throw around 500 pounds like it's nothing, yet are unable to do 2 pullups...

sounds like you're scared to find out you're not as strong as all those "skinny guys"

try CF....one of the best workouts you can get, and it gives you a more well-rounded form of strength and endurance than sitting on a bench move weights up and down in one direction....

Continuing on this thread; Has anyone utilized Crossfit type workouts while on a cycle?

Coach Glassman (Crossfit founder) was quoted as saying the way to get into the "best" shape: Crossfit and Anabolics.

I'm curious as to what the effects of Crossfit and Anabolics would be?????

I love crossfit and bodybuilding type lifting. I just balance the 2 out, I only do crossfit 2 times a week in the place of cardio, I make my own workout up using the crossfit idea and go all out for 20 - 30 min. Its great to be able to lift weights for cardio. All you guys bashing it should try it. It does help with hypertrophy or cutting, again depends on diet and routine split.

See that all the time wondering WTF??

But in all seriousness, everyone has different goals and for me this type of training would not benefit what I would like to do

Exactly. I know it would kill me just as loading up the squat rack with 4 plates a side would kill most of these guys. I became anti crossfit when the guy who runs the one in my area told my wife "doing crossfit will get your body back to how its supposed to look". Now I know I am biased but my wife has a kick ass body and has won more Figure shows than I can count. Not all of us are fans of the Olson Twins look with a bit more muscle.

Yeah they seem to have been criticized with a cult like mentality around the block

Took a crossfit trainer the other day to do squats in which i use to train this guy and he tried to critique my form when his was much worse. Telling me to lock my knees out when as a bodybuilder thats exactly what we're not suppose to do and having the bar not on my traps but lift my shoulders up more so its on my rear delts for some reason he explained that I just quit listening too.

I then started critiquing his form. With placing the bar like that it was causing his lower back to move forward and not staying straight which may one day blow his back out, his knees were going past his feet and wobbling which is a sign he is about to blow out his knees, then listed the reason of why I don't lock out my knees and to read how a ton of trainers will restart the set count if you do so as this relieves tension off the quad muscle and this isn't what we want.

Needless to say he shut it real fast, did what I said for the remaining, and he quit on the 1st set of hamstrings after quads, adductors, abductors, (mind you at current I'm training everything twice a week so I don't do as many exercises or sets), and having to go walk while I finished hams and glutes since we drove together.

He called me today wanting to go to my back to my program as thats when he saw the best results and his legs still are in agony 5 days later

CF is indeed an intense workout...

But I wouldnt give up my HEAVY LIFTING BODYBUILDING LIFESTYLE FOR ANYTHING !!

So what you CF'ers can do 100 kipping pullups, and 30 wallballs, run 400m, 100 burpees * 3... FOR TIME !!

BUT HAH !! I CAN REP OUT 650lb SQUATS, (765 max), RIP 550lbs. off the floor, and sadly BENCH 315 .. (damn shoulder injuries- but I am working on this.. friggen Labral Tears [A Bankart lesion is a labral tear that occurs when a shoulder dislocates. When the shoulder comes out of joint, the labrum is torn, and makes the shoulder more susceptible to future dislocations] n shizzit SURGERY sure does put ya down a few notches.. rehab to get back to 315 has been a motherf***er !!)

I'll take that any day over any CF Workout...

HEY ALL YOU CROSSFITTERS !! IF THE BAR AINT BENDIN' YOU'RE JUST PRETENDIN' !! LOL...

Nah I am playin'... too each their own... if you enjoy doing CF workouts .. then good for you !! SERIOUSLY !! At least you aint sittin' on ya @$$ drinking sodas watching CSI re-runs, with a bag of doritos clogging your arteries... You guys are doing some highly intense shizzit.. and for that I give you all the credit in the world.. being physically active and keeping your body in good health whatever way you choose to do it is better than wasting away in an armchair with a budweiser and a bag of movie theater butter popcorn... IMO...

CF just aint for me.. doesnt help me and my goals... but everyones goals are different...

I am not gonna lie... I used to CF all the time.. when I was training MMA... But now that my mind is now geared to more of a BB lifestyle.. CF just doesnt fit anymore...

Don't knock it until you try it. Part of Crossfit's problem is quality control. Too many people are certified a bit too easy.
I know of quality Crossfit boxes that have real lifters running the place. These guys do quality programming and most with either a Strength bias or Oly Lifting emphasis.
If you can get over to them you're lucky.

I do Crossfit 3 days a week, but my emphasis is strength and conditioning. I'm not the strongest, but tomorrow I plan on breaking into the 400's on my squats. (Well, at least I think so.)
