    can i build muscle withought squatting ?

    I'm an mma fighter whos on break for a bit, maybe 2 month, i got an mri for my back tomorow and im gonna get that fixed, i've always done strength training programs with squat deads and benching, since i cant do squats and deads heavy because if not i feel my lower back hurt, is it possible to gain mass withought squatting and deadlifting ? obviously if i cant do these movements for awhile i will lose some leg strength but it'll come back, really i can't do any leg movements or back extension movements

    thats fine, you can still stick to compound movements like leg press which can be your sub for squats...

    well actually i cant leg press either =/ but if i would do lets say dumbell squats ? ( less effective i know ) but it will help increase my grip strength and keep my legs working out a bit, for some reason db squats dont hurt, i guess its really the overload of that kills me

    there are other options - yes....and of course u can still build muscle...

    Yes you can still build muscle, you will more than likely have to focus on explosive multi-joint exercise that focus more on the speed at which you move the weight vs that of the amount of weight.

    what about hack squats? its all legs i believe no back involved. maybee start out real light and work your way up.

    well lets choose some exercises per body part that will suit you..

    quads/glutes-
    -lunges
    -squats/hack squats/front squats
    -leg press
    -leg ext

    hams-
    stiff leg deadlift
    lying leg curls
    seated leg curls
    single leg-curls

    i would choose out of that group and perform which ever exercises dont hurt
