No one does legs and.......rant
Why is it that I almost see no one ever do
Deadlifts
Standing Shoulder Press
Squats.
the only guy besides me that does these excercises is a one hell of a hardcore powerlifter that comes to my gym.
I have been doing these since I first started lifting steel 3 years ago.
I have to say it wasn't till my second year that I started doing standing shoulder press but ever since then my shoulders really rounded out nice.
These are not people that just started working out either, whats the deal.

cause they are P U S S I E S !!!!!
my gym is like that too
I had an old guy come up to me with his son after I did a 1000 lb leg press Thanking me for showing his son the importance of doing legs !
most have no clue in the gym what it takes to really build a body and that legs are the entire foundation. the stronger the legs, the stronger the upper body gets as a result
-
I did legs today.
Don't do standing shoulder press, though.
my gym is full of pvssies, too.
It's funny. When I do deads every stops and stares. Not cuz I'm do that much weight,
but bc. they have no idea wtf I'm doing.
-
Shit at my gym, the legs section hardly gets touched.
Right next to the power racks where I do deads and standing presses.
Everyone else are by the dbs, doing curls.
-
Same at my gym only a handful do them.
I just argued with my buddy the other day. He says he is strong than me cause he can DB shoulder press more and curl.
I ask what his squat / m-press / deadlift / BB rows were and he just looked at me funny. Give me a break.

I'm glad peeps don't do legs cause I gotta do them on Mondays, national bench press day, and Thursdays, arm day for all the peeps cause Friday is party night as our gym has a pretty close knit of party dbags that are in decent shape.
Only problem is these fvcks do curls in the squat rack and I will go up and ask them to do that some where else with how I feel and where am at. I don't have fvcking time for you to develop your little 15 inch bicepsLast edited by Reed; 06-05-2009 at 09:34 PM. Reason: spelling

Whoa, what's the status on standing shoulder presses? I've always done seated. Anyone notice a big difference between the two? Damn, I guess I'm 1/3 pvssy. Gotta get into that remedial lift.

Me personally I find standing shoulder press really targets the entire shoulder. I believe it used to be in the olympics but was removed due to the compitition taking to long. Seated Shoulder press targets more anterior delts.
here is a good video to learn from hXXp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sebbhlKhs2E
It has to be one of the most neglected excercises.

i used to workout at a privately owned hardcore powerlifting/bodybuilding gym. dummbbells went up to 200lbs. lotta desiel guys who squatted and deadlifted all the time.
big chain gyms suck and attract pussies who never squat and do the same routine everyday. trick is to find the right gym with the right people. having a good workout comes down to the atmosphere, energy and people in the gym

at my gym the bench press gets overused and the cable crossovers.
Its a good laugh though.
you see great things at my gym, exercises you never seen before in your life, for some reason some guys think they can work their calves while doing bicep curls.
Yes i do see some strange things.

a freaking girl was streching on the squat rack for like 45 min ... i had other things to do so i just do those till i had to go bump her off - she was pissed as hell and said that she had the right to use the rack for her stretches... the funny part is that i was getting looks from other people cause of that (i was nice, she got all bitchy) - the point is im at a gym that people think the squat rack is used any thing but squating!!!!!!
i have lifted at gyms that if you used the rack for any thing but legs, shrugs, deads, standing military press some one would just about come over to beotich slap you!!!
im still irritated about that

I find it equally pathetic when I see these huge dudes throw around 100s of pounds, yet couldn't do 2 pull ups to save their life. Or guys doing a massive tricep workout, yet can't do 10 dips w/o assistance from the machine.
similarly, being a non-competitive power-lifter and unable to run 1/2 a mile w/o dying for a breath is equally humorous.....they usually scoff at the people on treadmills and elliptical machines, and ironically they're usually the "heavier" looking ones....

I have to disaggree with the second part there. It all comes down to what your training for, are you training to be bodybuilder, a powerlifter, overall health, strength, runner, shotput. Whatever it is, to excel in what you have to accomplish you have to be particular in that discipline. A olympic lifter trains for power, a powerlifter for 1 rep max, a bodybuilding hypotrophy. So all a powerlifter cares about is how much he get up in that 1 lift (he don't care how he looks, its not about that). A bodybuilder cares everything on how he looks. Im compitition a bodybuilder looks amazing but is at there weakest. A bodybuilder don't care if he can run a mile is 60 seconds, he cares about symmetry, size, difintion of muscles, etc.....
Now someone training for general wellness and fitness it going to excel alittle in everything (overall) but not excel in one particular area.
All in all it all comes down on what are you trying to accomplish.

there is these guys at my gym that workout there chest three times a week. They are always in the way. They never change weight always using 225lbs on flat bench. This one guy does concentration curls with 90lb dumbell, but the key to this form of exercise is to keep your elbow in the middle of your thigh so when it gets heavy you can use the leverage
