    cardio bike vs everything else..

    I just moved to austin , tx and everyone here rides bikes. I am tired of the boring cardio i usually do walk on treadmille, elipticle , etc... If I ride the bike for 45 50 min, is it the same ? dumb question. but just never have really ridden a bicycle.

    will i get the same effects on it/..i guess that is my question.

    i dont think the type of cardio you do matters really, as long as you keep your heart rate the same as you used to on the treadmill or elliptical, which on a bike prob means some serious ass hauling, but it would burn the same amount of cals if your at the same heart rate

    As stated above it's all about the intensity and what you bring to the workout. You get on the bike and push yourself every second you are on it and you can bet that it is effective.

    There is a famous saying "don't cheat yourself".... basically if you slack on your workout all you do is cheat yourself and no one else...

    Bike will work your legs moreso than elliptical and treadmill. If you're sore from leg training than I wouldn't suggest cycling.

    As mentioned below it doesn't really matter but every week or show I change machines for cardio. I was just bike before and when I got on the treadmill or Eleptical I was beating myself up, so now I just rotate them all in.

    if you enjoy bike riding, then go for it. Just keep your heartrate where it needs to be.

    I rode bikes when I lived in Alaska. Now the bike I ride is on the gym floor.
