    Cardio

I know empty stomach and pwo low intesity cardio are the best to get rid of body fat. My question is on my off days that I can't do empty stomach cardio what can I do to aim at the fat and not the muscle ?

    Thanks

What do you say 500 calories less should I take them from carbs and fat?

I was about to ask this exact same question.. to add to it.. do you burn any fat if you do cardio on your off day (1.5 -2 hours after last meal) or do you simply reduce your glycogen stores throughout the cardio workout?

No proof cardio directly burns fat. You will burn calories no matter what day you do cardio. Your body will get energy where ever it can get it from. Weightlifting helps keep your muscle from getting burned away. It's a fun tug of war of fat vs muscle we play with our body

cardio while fasting is just a theory to help efficiently lose weight. nothing is proven to work for sure 100% and some methods definately work better than others. the main idea is to burn calories. the more calories you burn the better. fasting cardio works well (IMHO) to help the body release the fatty acids into the blood stream as quickly as possible during and throughout your day. taking supplements (many out there that show clinical promise) and doing pwo cardio is fine. supplements can help out in the area of anti-catabolism, which i think is one of your concerns.
another way you can direct a bit more at the fat is to increase the "resistance" during your cardio workouts so that your heart rate falls into the correct "fat burning zone", usually 115-130 BPM for younger people. a little higher is okay also, just try to avoid going way up well into the "cardiovascular" range for HR.
calories are calories and the main idea is to lower intake and increase output. take in fewer calories than your 'BMR+total energy expenditure' and you will lose weight.

I'm just learning here, but from all the reading i've done.. if you just concentrate on calories, it seems like there is a good chance the weight you lose will be muscle, not fat. So the macros appear to be really important. Also, I see people stressing cardio works best PWO (or empty stomach), as when your glycogen stores are low, there is a much higher chance the body will break down fat to fuel the cardio session (note, i said chance.. not absolute certainty). So that's why I was wondering how effective cardio is likely to be on non-lifting days to use stored fat for energy rather muscle.

very true statement, but what has to concern people is the TYPE of cardio exercise done.. facts are if its high intensity you will use carbs and if carb deficient you will use muscle as energy... so its important to know when to perform cardio-should be perfomed in glycogen depleted states.
