    Is this normal?

    Ok Im a little troubled by whats going on with my flat bench. I usually do 135 warmup x10-12, then 225 for 10-12, and then 315 for whatever and then MAX. on max days.

    Ok so today I work up to 315 and do it an easy 12 times(could have done maybe 15 but stopped), so I decide to max and got 405 up for one (bustin a nut basically doing it).

    My question is am I lifting too much before my max? I'm doing pyramids on just about all my pushing exercises so i work to 315 or 405 and then back to 225 for as many as possible.

    Seems to me I should be maxing more what do you think?

    try 2 prep sets at 60-70% intensity before your 1 rep max

    thats wiers usually when people figure their 1rm I have always done it this way
    if you can..225 for 10
    then 315 for 1
    if 315 for 10
    405 for 1
    if 405 for 10
    then 495 for 1

    This has always came out pretty close for me!

    i would say you are..

    i do 40% 10-15 reps..
    rest..maybe 2mins
    60% 5reps...
    rest maybe 3mins
    90% for 1
    rest five mins
    max
    (if i get that)
    rest five mins
    max +weight

    Maybe I need to rest a little more, I might try yours too Quarry "thanks"

    Yeah I looked it up on BB.com and thats what got me, it said I should be able to max 455lbs or something like that and I was laughing. I might get that in the future but now? damn...
