quick question about lighter weights, higher reps...

how many reps should you do per exercise? and how many sets of each exercise?

this is my first time trying lighter weights and higher reps

I keep sets the same, but reps anywhere from 15-20.
Then sometimes at the end of a chest workout, I'll do a set of 100 burnout with just the bar on flat bench. Its harder than you think lol, and it gives you anice pump.

unless doing slingshot like routine, if your intensity is the same then your sets should be the same... reps will just target diff muscle fibers and allow for more growth

I generally do 8-10 reps for size, 4-6 for strength. sets remain the same. The reps obviously increase for muscles such the calves (slow fibres).

I always try and do 1/2 perfect for higher reps and the other 1/2 real heavy lower reps

For instance for bench I do 5 sets of flat...1 warm up with 135# for 20 reps..
    then 225# for12
    then 275# for 8

Then I try and jump up to whatever real heavy is at the time
today for example was 315 for 5
    350 for 2

This works all the muscle fibers!! If I do all my sets with less than 8 reps, I do not feel a good pump, the first couple sets at high reps always gives me a great pump!

Really want to go with a high rep workout for a few weeks but I just have a hard time giving up the heavy weights. I feel like i am doing women's fitness competition training when i go over 10-12 reps. lol

But am going to start this as my next training program. See what happens.
