Group,
I enjoy road cycling and have a Fuji road bike. If I were to do 30 minutes of cardio on a treadmill, how would that compare to a 30 minutes of road cycling?
Thanks![]()

sorry dont understand what your asking.......
Depends on what you are asking and what you are going for. As long as biking elevates your heartrate into the same zone as you would on a treadmill I don't see any difference between the two. I know a lot of people who prefer to bike outside as opposed to inside. As long as you can elevate your heart rate you should be good to go.
it all depends on the intensity....by using a heart rate monitor you can monitor your heart rate...if its say 130 bpm....it dont matter if its by using a bike or cardio machine...
i do a lot of bikeing myself...twice a week and run twice a week a.m for 45 mins.
Do you have a power meter on your bike?
If not use a heartrate monitor; you can get a decent one nowadays for $50...
Use this calculator to find your training zones by BPM

If you do a work out and you want to improve your general speed fitness, I'll give you a basic start:
day one (make sure you are well rested):
-do a 15 min warmup at your temp (level 3)
-next do an hour at level 4 incorperating 5 min intervals at level 5 ( your lactate threshold) 3-5 min at level 3 between. Do 3 of those...
-finish with a 15 min cool down
day two
-recovery ride at level 1. Helps flush lactate
won't get into too much more but use that as a starting point
Lots of rest between intense rides; 2-3 days of it... Cause that's when you actually make gains.
If you go too intense you gonna be working against yourself
when it comes to cycling i found that i would judge distance not time..
i use to do 8 miles a day when i lived in orlando.. and i found judge distance was better than time because it was the effort put out more than the time cruising
Thanks guys!!
it's different. cause you are moving around balancing the bike. you gotta slow down in some areas. it's boring on a machine. thats my opinion.
so therefore i get more of a workout out on the road.
p.s. you get to perve on all the girls walking. nothing beats that.
