    DB Pullovers

Never really put them in my chest routine because you only have 14 sets or so but I am willing to try them. Anybody like them, hate them? To my knowledge this is pretty much an upper chest exersize? I'm contemplating substituting these for incline flies for a few weeks.

    Love them (good pain/pump)

Chest and tris (tris secondary IMO), I incorporate tris in a little more with everytime I pull it to my chest from over my head I do one press off my chest and then back down behind my head. After my 10-12 reps I do off my chest till faliure. I only do it with a dumbell, I just can't get a very good pump with the barbell. VERY NICE EXERCISE...

Hope it makes sense but it caught my tris up big time.

i must say out of all the years I have been training i do not think i have ever tried those. I see them bein performed and i just do not like the movement and think there are better exercises. I mght be wrong though cause I even see a lot of Pros doing them and they would not be doing them if they did not do something

Maybe I am doing something wrong . I do on back day

I lay across bench , dumbell 90 degrees from chest . arms extended I lower behind my head til touches ground , pull up to start position with arms extended .

This hits my lats close to armpits

I have seen people do this and superset with flat fly's

I must have dropped dumbell on my head I guess or am thinking of something all together different .

    Anyway , good luck

You might get a little lats in there too, its not a chest isolation movement by any means, heck you will get a litlte bit of shoulders in there too. Letting the weight hit the floor IMHO is going too far down, or your using 200lbs which then it might be ok, otherwise your looking at shoulder pain soon if not already.

I lay perpendicular to the bench so only my shoulders and upper back are touching the bench when I do this movement.

    I only use a 40 lb dumbell .

With palms on top plate of dumbell , my arms dont go past 180 degree line from quads . Anatomically impossible , I guess arms are extended and curved a little .

I am not good at explaining but sounds like same thing . I see guys doing a t-bar on the cables bent over and pulling them down . palms down .

I might not be biggest guy in the gym , but I have the reddest guy and sweaty est guy all sewn up ! LOL . I was thinking about trying out for the loudest guy , or the highest dumbell dropper guy . Lots of competition there .

yeah sounds the same. Use more weight and you will feel your chest and tris..

Also yeah I was trying for the "guy that can leave the most plates on the ground after working out, so i can look cool guy" BUT some stiff competition there..

I do many variations of the dumbbell pullover... using 'em for back and chest (depending on the angle, elbow position... etc.).

I was informed that decline bench DB pull overs were more geared towards lats. Agree?

i use a pullover machine lately like the one in blood n guts, but even with a db i always do them on back day. but i have wondered how much chest is involved, i do know the long head of the tricep is heavily involved in shoulder extension.

I know there is no proof of this but 'Arnie' believed that pullover where the only exercise that could help in expanding the rib cage.

I do them with my shoulders on a bench and hips low and get a good burn in the pec's but i go heavy (55kg DB) on them and with a slow movement
