    Periodization training - Advise needed

I have been doing 8 week training periods - 6 days a week, one muscle group a day, 6 exersizes per muscle group - followed by one week rest/ light cardio and lifting. I was wondering what would happen if I didn't take a rest week but instead I started training for power ?

Ideally I would like to look like a body builder but also have a practical power... I really need some advise.

Typically your periods are usually 12 weeks long, but 8 is ok it just compresses the time frame that you have to include other exercises. I also like to micro periods within a larger period incase I really need to focus an athlete in on a particular area quickly or if an injury has occurred. I dont like to take traditional rest week because I feel that in all actuality you lose two weeks. First the rest week then the next week to catch up. Agian this is why I like to use a longer period time frame. I am not exactly sure what your training for or what your goals are. Post those up in more detail and maybe me or others could give you a more clear cut answer than my ramblings...LOL

    Thanks for the advice.

I just want to have a fuctional body at an optimal level: As much size, streangth and power as I can get without having to specialize or refine my goal. In my opinion a guy like George Saint Pierre is a good example of what I would like to achieve for my body. He is lean, very strong for his size, and explosive. These are all qualities that I would like to develop but know it is going to take more than one type of training method to attain.
