Daily doubles- practical purpose or outdated tradition?
My question is about the functionality of training twice a day when first starting the training for a seasonal sport.
For a long time, some sports started the training season with two training sessions a day to knock off the rust after an off season layoff.
I read on here that strength training should only be done once a day, with at least 48 hours of rest and recovery. I also understand that some forms of exercise (like running and swimming) don't require this amount of time for recovery before using the same muscle groups again.
Is there a predictable and functional advantage to training twice a day with a sport like Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, or is that an outdated tradition?
Thanks for your time and attention.
James
