You would recover and grow better if you limited training those parts to only twice a week. Abs and calves can be overtrained just like any other muscle group. More does not always mean better.
^agreed 100%
and to add to that you should be training your calves just like your other parts, heavy and hard. a bigger muscle IMHO is a stronger muscle.....
You can do as many days as you want to answer your question. Boxers and military can vouch for that idea .
The 2 vets are correct in idea to make them grow .
What you wanna do is work the specific body part hard enough that you feel it the following day .
If you do legs , are you able to tell the following day ?
If you are not feeling that when you do abs , I would find a exercise that puts that stress on them .
Example : cable crunches , squeeze at the end , too where you feel in your core . 3 sets
or hanging leg lifts , toward end on last set give up a little form to get a couple extra in .
Scissor crunches , ( not sure technical name )
Get on the exercise ball and do crunches , squeezing at top , feeling each one . not just going thru the motion but feeling it .
I think if stress them enough you won't wanna do them every day and see some results .
well arnold trained them up to 5X per week. i guess he was pretty juiced up
Agreed ^
I attend my University gym, and when I watch others training - I often see some people doing what I would assume to be mal-training.
The thing is, some of these exchange students (like myself, but from the Asia continent)
train some things every single day.
Calves are the one I see.
This guy is a monster, and in Australia it is very difficult to get any gear around here. Not to mention sh!t you DO find being made in a dirty bathtub (abcess galore!)
That all being said, I just doubt that he is 'on' - and that he just has beautiful genes that allow him to train almost as he pleases.
His calves are fk*n enormous as well.
- I could put to words many other examples. But your mom and pop and a lot to do with what you 'put out'.
