5x5 ?
Hello guys, i know uve probably been asked bout this program many times.me heads been up the wall wether i should do it or not.cause im scared of setting my self bak.ive been working really hard in the gym but i dont think its paid off aswell as i hoped.i want n need to build up as much mass as i can.i might be doing too much in the gym.ive been doin compound movements for years with loads of isolation movements aswell.but obviously wat im doing isnt working.just the 5x5 program doesnt look as though it stimulates a certain bodypart.like just doing bench press n thats it. i just need help to see if this 5x5 is ok to start?its just basically the old one
Monday
Squat 5x5
Bench Press 5x5
Bent Over Row 5x5
Additional exercises - Barbell Curls 3x8, Tricep Pressdown 3x8
Wednesday
Squat 5x5
Shoulder Press 5x5
Deadlift 5x5
Additional exercises - Side Laterals Raises 3x8
Friday
Squat 5x5
Bench Press 5x5
Bent Over Row 5x5
Additional exercises - Preacher Curls 3x8, Tricep Dips 3x8
As i say just it doesnt seem right cause theres no upper chest, pullups etc.

well i dont have any personal experience with this type of training.....why are you set on this training method if you dont really want to do it??
you could allways give it a go for a few weeks and see what happens...

heavy squat 3 times a week?
heavy squat and heavy deads on the same day is def. not a good idea

It works and it's a killer. But you have to lift a certain % of your max in order to do the routine correctly. And you have to do 5x5 on all exercises. Sound easy?
You should give it a try. Those are the best exercises for strength and the rest of you will benefit from this workout even though you're not directly working certain parts.
And don't get too full of yourself and go to the gym on saturday and do arms. You'll need the rest for the following week and you won't be giving the routine proper time.

Correct. There's so many variations on the weight, but the reps remain the same. I've been reading into these lately cause i'm going to try one of them starting in late Oct.
I did a very similar workout for a while when i was younger but that's been many years ago. I do know i came back stronger than ever though.
OP-Can you post up exact routine with the weight and weeks included?
I'll go look and post the one i think he might be talking about. It's either in this forum or the powerlifting forum.

i have just took the usual 5x5 program but added an exercise for biceps n triceps on monday n friday cause doesnt seem that my arms will grow from not doing direct work.im probably wrong like. i never done this routine anyway, today i av started madcow's version which most of u know. just gonnna follow exactly wat that says.heard its very good for putting on size.but soon find out in few weeks
