Additional exercises - Barbell Curls 3x8, Tricep Pressdown 3x8

    Wednesday
    Squat 5x5
    Shoulder Press 5x5
    Deadlift 5x5
Additional exercises - Side Laterals Raises 3x8

    Friday
    Squat 5x5
    Bench Press 5x5
    Bent Over Row 5x5
Additional exercises - Preacher Curls 3x8, Tricep Dips 3x8

well i dont have any personal experience with this type of training.....why are you set on this training method if you dont really want to do it??

you could allways give it a go for a few weeks and see what happens...

Actually this program works great. Bill Starr is the one who developed this program. It's great for building lean muscle mass.

It depends from goals. If you train for hypertrophy 5x5 isn't the best choice.
If you wanna train for strength and a little for size doing this program may be helpful.
However not in every training you'll use heavy weight and you won't lift till failure.

It works and it's a killer. But you have to lift a certain % of your max in order to do the routine correctly. And you have to do 5x5 on all exercises. Sound easy?
You should give it a try. Those are the best exercises for strength and the rest of you will benefit from this workout even though you're not directly working certain parts.
And don't get too full of yourself and go to the gym on saturday and do arms. You'll need the rest for the following week and you won't be giving the routine proper time.
    Good luck.

IMO, this sounds more like a diet issue, than a workout one

He's not suppose to go super heavy all week. There should be a heavy / med / light day.

Correct. There's so many variations on the weight, but the reps remain the same. I've been reading into these lately cause i'm going to try one of them starting in late Oct.
I did a very similar workout for a while when i was younger but that's been many years ago. I do know i came back stronger than ever though.
OP-Can you post up exact routine with the weight and weeks included?
I'll go look and post the one i think he might be talking about. It's either in this forum or the powerlifting forum.
