Do you ever take time off from the gym?

I'm thinking after my cycle and PCT I may take a week off of training to let my body rest. Is this a bad idea? I've been at the gym 4-5 days every week since February and haven't missed a week at all. I know it's good to give the body a rest every once in a while. What are your thoughts on taking a week off of training? Would it be stupid or could it be good for my body? I'm thinking of maybe even just changing things up and not lifting for a week but going back to MMA training for the week to mix things up.

    Thanks,
    Pete

that depends. what are your gains and what is your body telling you to do? is it worn out do you have a lot of aches and pains? these are things to consider.

I'm currently up 17lbs. since the start of my cycle and I'm really happy with my progress. My body is very sore though and I do have some pain. I like the feeling of soreness because then I know I'm working hard in the gym but some of the aches I'm feeling in my joints are telling me that I need a little bit of a break. I don't want to lose my gains which is why I thought I would post this. My goal is to be able to gain another 3-5lbs. over the next few weeks if possible and retain 80-85% of my gains from this cycle for a few months before cutting down and dieting. I'm afraid that if I take a week off that because of the cycle I will quickly lose what I've gained.

    Thanks,
    Pete

I to will take a week off at times, it depends on how hard you have been working out but your body kind of lets you know when you need it, i have learned to listen to it now (when younger i didn't...lol). I find that it helps a lot and hit the gym hard again straight after without problem but with more energy.

I'd say you're ready for a break. You're already thinking about it.

I come back pretty strong after taking a week off.

I agree 100%, thing is to drop carbs and keep protein up high, no need for to many carbs if your not training.

I'd take the time off it's that what your body is telling you to do, but a week is going to be too long, especially since you just got off a cycle. Maybe a good 3-4 days would do the trick.
