    need some pointers for tomorrow

right some of you may know im going for the army, i have my mile and half run tomorrow.

iv just got back from the track...6laps of the inside = 1 and half miles. i packed in on 5th (really unfit smoke way to many) thought id do alot better, iv been told its alot easier on the day as its not a boring draining run.

basically wanting to know if theres anything i can eat or drink before i run tomorrow to give me that boost of energy.

i know this is not a runners forum but if anyone out there has any tips, as im dreading it tomorrow & just looking to see if theres anything i can do to give me a boost. got to do it in 10.30secs, seems easy but im finding it tough.

i really dont want to get defered for 6months.

so if anyone has any info on what i could consume before my run it would be massivley appreciated.

what time do you have to run?

I wouldn't eat a big meal too close to the run.

don't go overboard on pre-run supps. A little caffeine should be fine.

lol...I've seen people take waay to much caffeine before runs and couldn't even finish the run, bc their heart is going crazy.

don't over think it. just go balls to the wall for 10min. you'll be fine.

Have a good meal to tonight, complex carbs and lean protein, and eat light meals the day of the event. Don't take any supplements such as caffeine, don't look for energy burst foods as you will crash. Drink sufficient water before the run, not over doing it. Mind over matter, keep a strong pace and don't burn yourself out in the first half, plan your endurance so when you cross that line you are 100% empty. Good luck!

Have have 2 complex carb meals between now and bedtime, the second one being atleast a few hours before bed. Don't stuff your face but eat good filling portions.

In the morning whenever you plan to wake up eat a light meal. I usually went for egg whites and toast with jam, orange juice, an apple. If you are in the habit of drinking coffee and can't live without it you could have
like half a cup with the meal, but don't have any if you aren't a
    religious coffee drinker.

You don't want to be hungry during the run, but you don't want to be stuffed... light meal. Don't eat too close to the run or you might get cramps.

Also remember to warm up prior.

Take everything above and adapt it to what you are used to doing and what you are comfortable with, now is not the time to make drastic changes.

right lads do you want the bad news or the good?? lol.

well heres how it went...the bad news is i failed my run, came in at 11.18secs, the good news is me thinking i had to run it in 10.30 was wrong...10.30 is the max time for a fully trained infantry soilder. i had to run it in 11mins, so i missed out by 18 seconds, my sergent has put me straight on the list to go back on the 28th of this month because he knows i could do better...there for he didnt defere me for 8weeks....thank god.

next time i will piss the run, because i know the curcuit, and i know exactly what i have to do. the pull ups ect was a breeze. just failed the run. they told me before my run, i should have brought shorts to do the run as tracksuit bottoms will add around 30secz to my run time

i cant wait for the 28th, im going to work my ass off in the next couple of week

That's still a good time, and if you train hard by the 28th you'll pass it no problem!
