    Problem area: Neck

Alright guys, so I'm coming to the end of my bulking phase, and everything's going well. I'm putting on size very proportionately, except for one part: the neck! I need some good exercises to bring it up to par. I'm planning my first cycle for January but if I put any more size I'm going to look like a friggin bobblehead!!! 22 yo 5'8.5, 194 lbs 12% bf, any recommendations are appreciated .

    Deadlift
    Shrugs barbell/dumbells
    Upright rows

4-6 sets of shrugs on shoulder day and deadlifts on back day will definately bring up your neck.

Thanks, I should have mentioned I already do shrugs and deadlifts. Anything for the neck specifically (I'm not talking about traps)?

ive seen some guys in the gym using a strap hooked to a cable, the strap goes across thier forehead and they do neck exercises using that. picture single arm cable curl strap withough the handle on it. I know my description is f*ckin pathetic but see if you can find some pics online and you'll see what i mean. sorry for the crappy explanation, just finished a heavy leg day and am still kinda dazed.

Or maybe you could put the strap across the back of the head and move front to back as well? Much thanks bro, that's exactly what I'm trying to get at. Exercises that isolate the neck!

I've seen them used before. The harness looks a lot like BDSM gear, haha.
I'm pretty sure you can get them at most sporting gear stores. Years ago, they used to mount a pipe on a football helmet and add weights. But that was back when we rode our dinosaurs to the gym.

Neck bridges. Form a tripod with your head/legs. We used to do these in wrestling. Probably has something to do with the 'horse neck' most wrestlers sport. Check out Matt Hughes, He was doing them at a camp I went to.

hook up weight to it. You can work the back of the neck by sitting up with your hands on your knees and pulling your neck up. For the front you just lay on a bench with your head off the edge and pull your neck towards your chest. Same for the sides.

I've been doing those lately and can't seem to get very tired from them. I'm doing four sets of a minute apiece, perhaps I'll double the time and see what happens.
