650+ cals burned doing LIT hr

hey, quick question. the cals burned on the machine is over 650 per hour of lit. is this accurate?

    hr is 127-133 220lbs

usually 12 incline 3.7 speed. the calories seem high for lit. just wondering if this is typical.

The higher the incline and the faster you go equals more calories burned.

yeah i know, just didnt think keeping heart rate at 133 would burn that many calories.

well you are doing it for an hour. that sounds on the high side but not unimaginable. try cutting it down to 45 min if you think thats to much, or decreasing the angle or speed.

10 calories per minute is a good general rule of thumb for cardio, so this number is in the ballpark. You would have to know your LBM and HR and O2 consumption to arrive at the real number.

VO2Max is needed to figure it out exactly,,, using a HRT monitor like the Polar FT 80 can do that for ya,

here's a point in fact, using a heart rate monitor you can keep yourself in a zone where you can burn 700 cals in 40 minutes doing resistance training.. more if you keep your hr up..

thats not even the pre cardio warm up or the post cardio in a low intensity zone,

with that combination I have described you can burn

    100 cals pre workout
    700 cals doing resistance
    200 cals post workout..

but you have to really keep the post workout hr low otherwise you will be be using burning that hard earned muscle..
The answer to your every question

np, the polar ft40 looked basic..179.00 but comes with chest strap.

    also a question about these.

can u imput stats into them via usb etc. i know the size of the person makes a diff right? so i dont see how keeping track of your heart rate can count exact calories with these monitors. especially things like stair steppers or incline walking dragging 220lbs up. just wondering. thanks spy

I have a polar w/h chest strap. Don't like it to much but works great. I had no Idea that I was always way over my target zone until I got one. I wish I could have found one with an arm band instead, but it is , what it is.
