depends on your body type, and calorie count. Are you trying to gain muscle or lose fat? You wont do both at once so you need to pick one

as long as your protein is high you shouldn't lose much muscle. Everybody is different though, I get better results from cardio 3x/wk as opposed to 6. I use the cardio as a means just to keep my metabolism firing strong, but I dont overdo it as I start losing too much strength and get stringy looking

I do an hour a day 7 days a week (30x2) and havent had any issues with losing muscle. I am actually slowing gaining weight while on this schedule.

another thing is how hard your dieting. If your dieting tight as a mother****er then 3-4x/wk may be enough, if your having a cheat meal every few days then you may need 6 days/wk

This is my off season schedule, when I go into precontest mode I am usually between 90-120 minutes per day. There are obviously other ways of going about this and not advocating everyone take the same approach. I do better on high calories and high cardio. I am also getting up there in years and like to employ the large amount of cardio for health reasons as well.
