    Working out while sore

I did chest and tris two days ago. I had a rest day, and now it is time to do shoulders and legs. However, my chest is still very sore, as well as my triceps. Would I be causing further damage to my chst and tris if I were to do Shoulder presses today? I feel it in my upper chest when I do the presses, so my chest and tris will be active in this lift. Just wondering. Thanks

u would probly over train yes, however it has been proven to build strength and endurance to work sore muscles brcause the muscel will have to adapt to the stress over time, at the same time your not directly targeting the chest or triceps so it's really a matter of gaols and personal opinion

Well, I was going to go for:

    135 x 5 (warmup)
    225 x 10
    245 x 4
    205 x 12

i personaly wouldnt train my triceps if they still hurt, since u could hurt ur triceps more and its gonna hinder your shoulder workout anyways since ur triceps are still fatigued form your chest workout

but personaly i never train triceps and chest day, i always train them on shoulder day 2-3 days after my chest workout, so theyve had time to recover, and then more time to recover before my chest workout

    best luck man

People need to stop worry about over training, many routines call for you to use workout every muscle group twice a week. If you do chest/tri on monday then Shoulders/legs are 100 percent fine on Thurs. You might be sore the first week or 2 but your body will adapt and you will be fine. I garuntee after your first shoulder set you will be lose, stretched out and ready to go.

I would change my split, so I had more time between chest/ tris and delts. LIke you said, presses are a compound movement. You also worked your shoulders on chest day and you're going to work them again with just one day's rest.

When you're small and lifting lighter weight it takes more work to overtrain. When you lift heavy you stand a better chance of overtraining. You don't look small in your avatar.

There's going to be some overlay. Let's say you work your chest/tri Monday and when Thurs shoulder day rolls around and you alil sore so you wait untill friday. Ok fine but now when chest rolls around are you going to wait untill wed this time. Now are you going to push you shoulers back again?? Everyone is Diff, some people love Chest/bi's, me personally when I do that split I feel like I never got time off and working every muscle every day and have no strength. SOme people hate chest/tri because their Tri's are to weak after chest. It really all depends on the person, but if you find a routine you liek but feel alil sore again dont sweat it too much and give it a shot, your body will adapt... Then guess what, Its prob time to change it up again
