What are some good workouts to get the "tube" like shapes going down the lower back? My lower back lags.

Agreed. Definitely deadlifts. Also, good mornings and rack pulls...

good mornings really hit the spot, try those at a low weight and rep it out.

deadlifts, bent over barbell rows, hyper-extensions, stiff leg deadlifts, and good mornings.

All the above. Bent T bar rows will also work well wth making your overall back thicker. I love em but my new gym doesn't have one... its sadly missed.
