Full Squat... WOW
Last week I decided to go with a full squat as opposed to the standard "Parallel" squat in my leg workout. WOW!!! This absolutly crushed my legs. I felt 10x more stimulation in my leg, got 10x more sore, and my muscles were bulging out of my leg. All this and I squatted less then half the weight. If no one has ever done full legs I advice trying it out for yourself and seeing how you like it. I have a feeling I am going to see some really big improvements in my legs just from this exercise alone.

Yea I can't believe I have wasted so much time. This exercise absolutly CRUSHED me in the best possible way. And the pump was absolutely incredible. Now that I think of it go watch videos of Ronnie,Arnold, Carney,Cutler squating, ALL ASS TO ANKLES!!

read this thread the other day and decided to try the full squat and see what I thought. All i have to say is HOLY SHT!!! I will be doing full squats from now on.
I could feel more of my legs working during the sets. it felt awesome. walking down stairs has become alittle more dangerous but well worth it.
the other sad part was how how much I had to decrease the weight but i'll take a blow to the ego in exchange for massive wheels anyday!

I always thought my legs were weak with the weights I hear people talking about compared to what I use.
Then I realized most are not doing full squats like I do, so it is no wonder they lift almost double.
You don't need much weight at all if you are doing full squats, the next day it is very clear.

hell most people could do 3 sets of 10 atg with no weight and be sore the next day if not use to it lol

My knees are... questionable at best, from a long motocross career and so far full squats havent bothered them. Believe it or not but during the movement they actually feel better than they did doing parallel squats. No pain or discomfort in the following days either.

I always do full squats, parallel squats and just about parallel squats. I dont know if this is correct but with six sets I do this. The first two are lighter weight and deep sets. Then the next three are parallel squats. The last is the heaviest and i don't really don't go to parallel. I feel that I need all three to get a good workout. The heavy weight at the end really kills me. But if I dont do the low weight high rep deep squats I dont get the same soreness.

atg is the best i feel also this is how i do my squats. you'll find that if you have a spotter(just for safety) your weight does not drop. that much. unless you have a weak point right at the bottom.

atg squats
I have been informed that these are very bad for the knee joint as it opens it up beyond its natural capability, especially under the stress of heavy weight ?

Yeah anyone with existing knee problems should probably avoid it. I will give it a try tonight when I get home I usually only go parralel.

That is why I stopped doing them. After 3 weeks my knees were hurting. It was a consistant sharp pain.

I did these last night, only 135lbs and 4 sets of 10/ Wow does it burn a different part of the muscle. I plan on doing this version and the paralel version of the squat going forward.

atg squats actually take the stress off the knees and on to the hips.

Another good thing about full squats is that you increase the level of activation you get from the glutes and hamstrings. So it makes it more of total lower body exercise instead of just quads.
