No, it's not "bad" to use machine for your chest; however, you would be missing out the benefit of using free weights---more neuromuscular recruitment on your muscle fibers.

I don't even do bench press anymore. It's more of the ego lift.
Does your gym have the hammer strength machines ?? You can always use those to replace bench if you're scared of getting the weight stuck on your chest.
Better yet, quit bein a wimp and ask someone in the gym to spot you ????

I agree, I don't bench anymore since my right shoulder has a tendency to give out without notice randomly, making benching particularly dangerous. Switched over to dumbbells- no problem. Also got to like a particular wide chest hammer machine (the other ones seem to freak out my shoulder just as much, don't feel natural).

Why not rotate 'em....and like stated before, just ask someone to spot you. Chances are that nobody will tell you no.

The Bench Press is the best chest sxercise, I wouldn't stop doing them unless you had an injury which prevented you from doing it.

If you can't do barbell or dumbells, well, something is better than nothing.

Heck hit the Smith Cage and pull up the bench...set your pins and go to to town. If you can't get weight up then just click into place where it is and slide out. No problems especially if you don't have a spot...and don't forget your inclines
