Finding motivation.
Back in September I reached a stone wall in my life personally. 360 pounds to be exact. I used to powerlift in the ninties, and was a pro wrestler for a spell, and would have fed an IV of testosterone in me if I thought I could have but that was ancient history. When I settled down, I still lifted somewhat but found that the muscle mass I had greatly diminished and blubber took it's place.
Anyway, in the past couple of years I have tried to restart in the gym and just run out of steam at every try. In September I started Weight Watchers and found great success in dropping pounds. Got to about 305 when I started my TRT again. My doctor lets me self inject so I'm about four months in at 200mg every 9 days. In that time my bodyweight has gone up to 315 and when I don't take my lasik I can go as high as 330-335.
Muscularity wise, I can feel things are alot harder and a guy who hasn't seen me ina few months asked me if I was back in the gym again so SOMETHING is changing. I just have no motivation anymore to try the weights again.
Anyone run into this? What did you do to get out of the funk? I've looked around a bit for a training partner but the ones I've found are early 20's Airborne ( I live in Fayetteville, NC - Fort Bragg) that I flat can't keep up with. I'm lost.

Just gotta get back into it and you will get back into loving it. Happens every time after i take a break for whatever reason. its normal. Keep at it and your love for it will return. I am sitting here right now working up motivation to get to gym as it is 10 p.m. EST. But will do it and be glad i did.

Steve what are your goals. Don't lie to yourself.
I want to be big, powerful, muscular.
I want people to look at me and think damn that dude is big.
I want to be more attractive and able to get ass easier.
I want strength because it will help me reach the first three goals mentioned.
I want to get lean once I reach a good powerful size.
A lot of people go to the gym and they have these answers that are kind of vague and stupid like "I want to look better". Thats stupid because that could mean anything. Instead maybe, "I want bulging muscles that come from hitting 400 on bench and 500 on deadlift. I want to cut down enough that I have a 6 pack. I want a workout program that changes every couple of months so I don't get bored (i.e. split and exercises). I want a workout slot that works with my social life so I can show off the pump after I lift, and I know what i'm lifting (partly) for."
Once you have that in place, and you have this mental image of what you want to look like.. me I'm somewhere between Superman and Schwarzenegger in Predator.. then you know why you are there.
As far as getting into the gym the rule for me is to get my ass in there. I find that once im there I will not just do a couple of sets and leave. But when I am having second thoughts I tell myself "its cool dude.. you aren't feeling this today.. just go and we'll see what happens". I usually end up doing my whole workout.

Getting back into it after "falling off the wagon" so to speak is the worst.. but quite simply, I agree with bmit... you have to stay at it and the results will come. Its painful as hell getting back into it but give your self 90 days complete discepline bro and you'll be back in the game 100%.. Make sure your diet is flawless, get on that cardio to help with the unwanted excess weight, and leave the rest for science brother... It'll happen and you can do it. Muscle memory is a beautiful thing man.. also, why don't you start a blog or a thread and post your progress every day? I'll follow your thread and a lot of other bros will too. That way, you'll have us to hold your feet to the fire too. We're here for you!
Best and good luck!

Do people have to motivate themselves to eat good food?
It is not motivation you are looking for, you want a weekly routine.
If you think go/dont go to gym, choose the GO! Do it every time, do not hesitate.
But if you realy want motivation, a friend who trains with you is the best motivation money cant buy.

Hey buddy, saw this today and thought of you.. check it out:
Motivation is not going to strike you like lightning. And motivation is not something that someone else can bestow or force on you. The whole idea of motivation is a TRAP! FORGET MOTIVATION!! JUST DO IT. Get in the gym and workout without motivation. And then guess what, after you start doing it and getting in your routine, THAT's when the motivation comes and makes it easy for you to keep on doing it. Motivation is like love and happiness. It's a by-product. When you're actively engaged in doing something, it sneaks up and zaps you when you least expect it. As Harvard psychologist Jerome Bruner says, "You're more likely to act yourself into feeling than feel yourself into action." So act! Whatever it is you know you should do, do it.
Hope this helps bro. Good luck and get in there, whether motivation is present or not.

just got to keep going at it. It is something that doesn't come easily and its what separates the boys from the men. I agree with cherrydrpepper, figure out your goals and go from there.
Perhaps writing everything out could help with it. Write down your goals, a diet, routine, and perhaps even something else that motivates you (whether it be quotes, a video clip, a picture).

it's all about momentum. Even if I miss a few days in a row training it's a little bit hard to get back that 4th day. Once you have momentum it becomes easier to go to gym. Plus the longer you have been going consistently the more likely it will stick as a habit. So even if you miss a few days, the habit is still there. Good luck. AND JUST DO IT!!!!
