How the F does this popular split work

    Day 1: Chest and Triceps
    Day 2: Back and Biceps
    Day 3: Legs and Shoulders
    Day 4: Rest day

I have met numerous people who use this split and I can't figure out how they deadlift one day then squat the very next day if they are lifting with intensity. I know sometimes when I deadlift, depending on my technique or style, it feels like its all back doing the work. Thats the only way I could see this working out.

I guess what im trying to say is I want to do this split but am having trouble wrapping my head around it. Is anyone here doing a split like this and getting good results?

Not I. By the time I get done with something like Chest, Back or Legs, I am totally wiped. I wouldn't give my arms or shoulders any justice. And like you said, sometimes I have to wear my lifting belt just to work out the next day after doing heavy deadlifts. I couldn't imagine trying to squat.

well ronnie coleman followed something like this for many years, excluding shoulders w/ legs.

i guess it comes down to time/genetics/rest/diet

I use that split but I also add a rest day in every other day

    monday chest and tri's

    tuesday rest day

    wednesday back and bi's

    thursday rest day

    friday legs and shoulders

    saturday rest day

    sunday chest and tris

    monday rest day

    etc...

Its only 4 days a week but they say rest and food is where you grow..

when they say back and bi's

    they mean upper back!!

You do lower back with your leg day.

    I like this:

    Chest/Tri
    Bi/Back (upper)
    shoulders/calves
    Legs/Back (lower)/abs

Thats when im taking a break from my power lifting programs.

That is the workout that makes no sense, two large muscles in the same day does not work.

No way you can train each properly in a 1/2 hour window.
