train alone or with a training partner?

Hey everyone who trains alone or with a training partner?

I used to train with different training partners for years and now have started training alone. I like it better except when I need a spot!

    What's everyone's thoughts/preference

Was training with my Brother but since his work hours have changed,im training solo.
I dont mind training solo though i get my workout done with less talking & stuffing around.Just means i have to switch to dumbells for heavy bench now as i dont need a spot.

I think i prefer training solo, that way i can stay focused,i try to blank out every one else in the gym.

IMO a training partner is the way to go! They can get those last couple forced reps out that really count. Also they provide motivation, when he's telling me to finish the f*kn rep I really push myself!

Let's not forget the safety they provide on exercises like bench press.

I hate training wihout a partner!

Alone always alone in my 25 years of training always alone, you don't have to wait after anybody that way.

And best yet i now have my own gym in my basement.

Training partner is ideal, but I cannot find one who shares my same routine or hours

Same here .. or they cant hang with the routine. Usually, negatives on the last few reps (and keeping one last cheat rep in me to get the bar back) does me fine, otherwise, i'll just find me a crash-test dummy someplace in the gym

If your looking to get stronger its always good to train with someone whos relative in strength, I find when you compete with someone it pushs you more to get stronger

Lot of people motivate themselves training with each other, almost 100% of the time this fails because like many say here motivation is from within. And its hard to find someone who trains the same as us. I can train in the morning, in the afternoon and at night at some point when doing cardio and more.

At some point i was even training with my GF but she lacked motivation so i quit going with her, and worst that i really hate from all the people that i worked with is waiting after someone.......

I train alone and i go in there and **** it up...I use a machine if i want to go heavier than norm...It has worked for me...If i could find a partner that didnt flake and trained with the same intensity, and doesnt just want to socialize, i would have one..I did train back in the day with a partner, but they all were flakes!!!...So training alone has been great, put the ipod on and im good!!...Every once in a while i do get spots from others....

I tell you I am so lucky right now because I train with a guy whos intensity is sick. I mean ****in vam damme just punched somebody in bloodsport in the face sick.

Training with him is awesome and pushes me to the next level.

That said almost everyone else I ever trained with has been a total p****y. Trying to get out of the gym early, needing an explanation of the most elementary exercises, cracking jokes and talking while I'm in a heavy lift, intensity of a housewife baking cookies, etc. I hate training with these people. Try to talk to them about diet: they are eating 3 meals a day with soda. They tend to suck all around.

I definitely have my weaknesses though. Guys who have a gym in their basement I don't know how they do it alone. I would never recommend that to someone but if it works for somebody I respect them.

I train alone. When I need a spot, I call the wife over. She's there to do more than look good =)
