    Lower Outer Pec area

My normal pec is very weak in the lower outer pec area. The common answer I get when ask how to build it is decline bench presses (with my head down and feet up). I've tried that with minimal success, but wondering if any of you found a way to attack that area more intensely. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have had the same problem and I would suggest dips, and decline dumbell bench press. However, the pec muscle itself still seems to build up with more development in the upper chest, for me at least. I have not done any incline exercises or direct upper pec work in a long time, and still it seems to naturally take all of the workload. Not to discourage you but I have put on about 45 lbs of muscle in the last 15-16 months, increased my max bench 140 lbs, and still, my lower pecs lag way behind. Hope you find something that works for you.

I have seen this question before and will suggest the same exercise. If done properly, this will hit the outer area directly.

I am so glad I found this forum. These are some great responses, and "I hear ya", Daytona. I have a feeling that it's just the way I am built. If I do any chest reps, it all goes to the upper area. But, I will try the dips, as I haven't tried them thus far. Thanks again for all the good responses.

I just wanted to return and let you all know that the dips worked. I don't have perfect pecs, by a long shot, but I can see where they filled in my weak area somewhat and it looks a HELLUVA LOT better. Before, that lower area could almost be described as collapsed. Now, I see some definition there, and I'm hoping it will get better. My pec just isn't full in that area and not shaped like I would like it to be, but that's ok.

Thanks a lot, gents. This forum is awesome.
