    Alternate squats?

I know that I am supposed to rotate the types of excercises I do to keep my body from adapting to one excercise and making it less effective.

For example, I always alternate flat bench and incline on my chest days, one day I do flat the next time I do incline.

To keep my body guessing then I'll switch to dumbell presses instead of barbell every couple months.

My question, from my understanding barbell squats are a must and there is no substitute. So is there a need to periodically replace barbell squats with something else? Like dumbell squats or just a leg press, but would those just be less effective than just doing barbell squats all the time?

I love barbell squats and would not feel like I am working out without them.

If the Squats are treating you well, then I see no reason to replace them for any other movement.

You could do hack squats as an alternate as well every now and then
