A round table discussion on... Wat time u train ?
Guys,
This past offseason, in the quest to add as much mass as possible, I was eating ever 90 mins, and having 2 shakes during the night.
As a general rule of thumb, i train at 5pm (i work 9-5)
But by 5pm... I was just too damn bloated and full to train at the intencity needed. I trained as hard as i could, but now, im dieitng for another show, im seeing just how much harder i can train (balls to the ball... gut busting training).
From the looks of things... i will be onstage 3kgs heavier than last comp, which was in march. Im a little dissappointed really.
So who here trains in the mornings ???
If not wat time do you train ?
And
In your opinion, wat is the best time of the day to train and why?

My schedule dictates I get to the gym at 5am M-F otherwise there's no guarantee I'll get there. I am still trying to figure out the right diet plan to account for working out first thing.

Hate morning lifting- cardio on an empty stomach is one thing-but I prefer late afternoon after I have several meals under my belt- just feel better like I can power through those heavier sets.

After years of switching it up, I've found that working out at night (9 pm) is the best for me.
1. More energy/better lifts as I've been eating all day long
2. Less people wasting space in the gym
3. It's the same group of people that are at the gym at that time...so if I need a spot there's always someone trustworthy around.

I read an article that said "exercise performance is closely related to body temperature" and that the "peaks for most people is in the early evening". I can't find the article now, but I'm sure if you googled the link between exercise performance and body temperature you could find it. I know it doesn't make a huge difference, but there is a difference. For me I can't work out in the evening so I do it all in the morning. If I had the choice it would be in early evening.

I lift at work, so I usually schedule my appointments early mornings and am done around 2-3pm, with home time being at 5. So usually 330-445 is lifting.

Agree with Nooom. After years of lifting at virtually all given times of the day/night, I've noted more work output during evening sessions.

For me, 5pm, much more energy and strength in the am compared to the am. I need a few meals under my belt.

Someone above said it already, but I like to base it off meals. Ideally I'd like to have eaten at least 3 meals (preferably 4) and still have time for at least 2 or 3 meals afterwords. So this usually works out to between 1-5.

Usually in the evening around 8pm but that's really the morning for me since I work graveyard and get up around 4pm. It's usually after meal number 1 or 2
