Have her try the same workout she is doing, just using free weights instead of machines. While some on here will espouse how great machines are, lets be honest with ourselves...if you're on a machine you're getting help.

Generally speaking, women can and should be doing most of the same exercises as males. The difference being that women tend to want to put on leaner muscle and prefer endurance rather than put on bulky muscle and prefer strength. With this being said...it is very hard for women naturally to become bulky, given that they have such low levels of testosterone . For her, 3 sets in the 12-15 rep range would be ideal for upper body, and for lower body 12-20 reps would be good. Machines do serve their purposes, but I'd say have her do most of her exercises with free weights and just use machines sparingly to change things up.

Also, women are notorious for having the "spot reduction" mindset and also doing certain exercises that are not very beneficial when compared to other exercises. So as an example, unless she is I'd say around 18% or less, it wouldn't do her much good to be doing ab exercises. To shed any sort of belly fat she should stick to cardio and implement good eating habits. Also, women love to use the abductor/adductor (aka: vagina machine)...if she is one of them, have her do walking lunges with or without dumbbells instead, they would be far more beneficial.

Anyone can correct me if anything I said is wrong.
