i train only twice a week and have gotten a lot bigger
i use HIT training all the time. try pushing your rest days to 3. for instance, bust your butt for 4 days straight then use 3 full days for recuperation. it doesn't matter when you start in your week, the workout/rest cycle stays the same. workouts should be no more than 45-55 min. rest should be cut to 60-90s. hope this helps.

I love it for strength and I find that the shortened workouts allow time for some cardio to help keep the extra fat off. If I deviate from HIT it is only 1 week out of every 10.

I've had great results with a modified HIT program. I find as long as my diet is on track that my strenght goes up every week
