weight loss
I don't know if I'm at the right place to be asking these questions, but I've looked around and this is what I found.. so I might as well ask.
I'm a female, 16yrs old, 5'3 and 189lbs. I really want to lose weight and as quickly as possible. My goal is to be down to 140lbs by june. I have no idea if this is a realistic goal or not. I've heard you can only lose 2lbs a week to keep it off. I started working out last week. I jogged on a treadmill usually for 15 to 20 minutes, did crunches, bicep curls, and another thing for triceps (I don't know what it's called). I started eating 5 times a day instead of the 5 and stayed away from junk food which I hadn't done before. I have already lost 3lbs and a inch and a half off my thigh and a little bit off my waist and hips. So if anyone would like to take the time to help me through this. I'd just like someone to tell me if I'm doing the right things to lose weight, if there's anything better I could do to lose weight quicker, and if my goal is even possible. My e-mail adress is [email protected] if anyone would like to contact me that way, or pm, or responding on here.

Cut out all junk no matter what....drink plenty of water, eat enough, get enough rest....continue with the resistance training and cardio and keep it up....for starters..

Congrats on deciding to get your body to what you want it to be.
I would not avoid carbs, but eat more protien than carbs.
Eat a good diet, nothing extreme and do what ywllows2k said and you will see results.
I do not suggest the no carb approach, it does work but i am a fan of working hard and eating smart for life! not just a couple months when you need to be ready for summer
Work smart, play smart and live a long time
Water,water,water, vitamin c 500, vitamin A 400 i.u and a multi vitamin with breakfast and dinner.
keep us posted!

Your body needs about 6g of carbs to function properly, might I add....no carb diets are extremely dangerous...

I've lost 42 lbs since oct. this is wha I've done
6:30 = cereal + skim milk + protien shake + multivitamin
+ 16.9 oz. water
9:30 = tuna or turkey sandwich on wheat +16.9 oz. water
12:30 = same as 9:30
3:30 = protien shake
6:30 = chicken or turkey + green beans + corn +16.9 oz.
water
9:30 = (if nessecary) cottage cheese or yogurt
4 days/wk min. = 1 hr wheight training + 1/2 hr. cardio
(heart rate 140-150)
IMHO this is by no means a perfect split or an end product
it is just what im doing right now. I am on this site 1-2 hrs
a day reading and learning all i can. most of thses guys (and I meen you too gals)are very informative and will help you out as long as your willing you help yourself.(read, read, read)
good luck and keep us posted
p.s. remember it took you 16 YEARS to get that big you cant loose it all in 16 days, it takes time and effert and the less effert you put in the more time it will take.
NO EXCUSES...JUST RESULTS!!!

i see nothing wrong at all with that diet, you have a good basis for losing fat and gaining lean body mass.
I follow something veryvery similar to yours. I have found that good carbs with my meals really helps me lose the weight.
I am in a transition period. I dotn seem to get any lighter but my clothes and my body is getting smaller.
Gotta love that. Screw the weight, give me the results.

Is that what you eat everyday damiongage?
Also, I have been advised to stay away from protien shakes. Does anyone know why? Do any of you have any lifts for me to do? I'm not trying to get big at all, I've just read that if you have more muscle you burn fat faster. Thanks for all the help.~Michelle~

i dont see why you should stay away from protein drinks
for, but thats just for your own convenience.
if your eating properly no protein supplement is needed
if your going to exercise to keep fit train the entire body
not just arms and abs
hows your diet now?

I just contacted someone to help me work on a better diet. I have been trying to eat 5 times a day. Usually toast in the morning and orange juice. Then for lunch salad. When I get home I'll eat a snack like an apple or something... then whatever it is that my mom makes for dinner. :-) I run so I thought that would be enough for my legs so I wouldn't have to do any lifts for legs. Is that the wrong thing to think?

You need resistance training for legs as well...
When I diet, I cut all dairy, bread, and fruits from my diet...too much sugar and water retention from bread for me...

thats my typical schedual, i use different spices and variations
such as for lunch meat you can use baked, cajun, roasted, for turkey
and fr dinner i change it up all the time chicken taco's,stir fry, baked,
grilled,bar-b-q, ther is about a googleplex of different chicken or turkey
recipes. I also eat lean beef on occasion(once every two weeks)but only
the most lean!!!
As far as the proten shakes...I use them because i try to consume 250
grams or protien a day. thats hard to do without them, but real food is
ALWAYS better if you can do it.
Go to a bookstore and get a muscul fitness hers for lifting
ideas. Just remembr you can lift and not get huge. Just look around
a gym and you will see very few huge(as in musculer) people.

COME ON PEOPLE this girl is 16. she could probably lose 30 lbs by just keeping the same diet and excersing regularly. I think most of the posts are a little extreme. Michelle, for now just try not to ead breads and pastas and try and eat some turkey or chicken somewhere in the day. I think for now this ought to be good. Oh yeah Stick to the cardio.
