    What Pumps You Up?

Studies have shown that combining music and exercise gives your body a boost. What jams pump you up when you're working out?

I don't like listening to music when I work out and those 'studies' are useless. It just so happens that the majority of people listen to music when they can so of course they take advantage of it during a workout.

All that Remains. Probably my favorite band all they're songs have superfast drums that really gets my pace going when i do cardio. Then again sometimes i just put headphones on with nothing playing so people won't try to start a conversation with me and ruin my routine

Amen. To many chabber boxes in the gym. I love to help people, but it can easily stray you from the job at hand.
For the music i like the tunes (mostly rock & metal) that have a story from life attached to it. Nothying motivates me more than bring up all the flash backs of Epic Fails. LOL

What qualifications would you have to endorse scientific studies as useless? Personal preference is fine, but I don't think you need to say things are useless because you don't personally see or feel the benefit. For your information, not that you care because this is based upon proven fact, but only 15% of the population has a primary learning modality of the Auditory means, most people I know do not listen to music when they can. I spend hours every day in a vehicle and have the radio on less than 1% of the time and then it isn't on a music station. The studies about music and exercise have to do with tempo and beat, not words, and music has been scientifically proven to affect attitude, heart rate, etc... I can lift with the right music or without music at all, but if I'm in a gym playing elevator music or country I am definitely weaker and less motivated. Personal preference is Skillet, the song "Monster" or "Hero" come to mind off the top.

i rock dropkick murphys, mindless self indulgence, and rage against the machine.
but most of all if im the only 1 in the gym alittle ronnie colman style screaming does more than get the job done.
