    Workout While Traveling

Anyone here travel a lot? I just took a new job that has me out of town every other week.

Most hotels I stay at have small exercise rooms, but it's usually just a treadmill and a weight machine. Was curious what other people do when they're out on the road.

That's a good idea. Though I wonder if the TSA will think it's a terrorist weapon.....

I used to travel all the time, and I just used whatever was available at the hotel and used to sometimes bring my iron gym pullup bar and hook it over the lip of the bathroom doorway. A lot of hotels have pools as well, which is great for cardio and upper body development. You can also carry resistance bands for a wide variety of exercises, and can do self body weight exercises like pullups, pushups, situps, lunges, wall squats, etc.

kettle bells??? you might be able to fit those into your luggage, and some of the kettle bell routines ive seen will rip you to shreds

Training on the road is hard. It might be worth your time to see if there are any gyms around your destinations that may be able to get you a weekly guest pass. I use the bands like frawnz mentioned. They work good, but using your imagination works great too. I am too heavy now, but I used to do pull ups on doors in my hotel room. Something else that may work for you is to use the towels in the room. What you would do is wrap the towel around something, like the shower bar, and then do things like curls by kind of leaning back and pulling yourself forward. Does that make sense? It would be better if you had a friend to help you like Arnold and Franco did in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypzNg5Qaexg

Bags over 50 pounds have huge overweight baggage charges when you fly, so bringing any type of weight with you wouldn't be very efficient. On longer trips, I have upon occassion gone to the nearest walmart and bought some freeweights, but only when I am going to be somewhere for a few weeks.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think the resistance bands might be the best idea. That and the treadmill should be decent enough I suppose.
