    training smaller muscles

I read that you should train smaller muscles first.ex(triceps). Then do chest. Is there any truth to this?

I highly doubt it makes any noticeable difference.

    Where did you read this?

its making the pecs do all/more off the work, its flawed though, if your tri's are fried you wont be able to push jack.

Heavy mass compound movements first, finish with isolation movements. IME

I have used this method before and had some success with it but I don't know if it was worth the risk. I ran through a whole triceps routine and hit some front delts before going on to my regular chest routine. The problems are:

You basically require a spotter on all chest movements because once your pecs fail there isn't anything left to keep you from hurting yourself.

It takes a very long time to completely fatigue those muscles and then run through a routine.

I really would only suggest this method for someone who is shoulder dominant like myself rather than someone who is chest dominant.
