Do want to flush out lactic acid after a workout?

Was wondering if, once the workout is complete, is it important to flush out lactic acid as quickly as possible? I have read that taking a shower after a workout and switching from hot to cold every 30 seconds flushes it out and you will not be as sore from your workout. Stretching after a workout can also help. Will this speed recovery, or is the lactic acid build up needed to gain muscle?

    cheers.

All of the people that say it causes muscle soreness is hogwash. Soreness is caused from microtears within the muscle from working out so no way to truely decrease the soreness. As far as the whole shower thing goes I have never heard of it nor is it necessary to do. Only thing lactic acid build up in our bodies does do is causes muscles to start shutting down when to much of it builds up also known as fatigue and is also the cause of the burning sensation towards the end of the set.

FYI - it’s only been shown to work in male cyclists at high intensity for moderate durations (4-7mins). Jury is still out on if it’s worth the money.
