What amount to eat before workouts?

Is there any amount thats to much or is it basically personal preference?

You have to experiment. Generally if you are going to workout about 1.5 to 2hrs after your meal like fruit and or oatmeal with some protein powder. I have two scoops of carb powder which gives me about 25 grams of carbs and 25 grams of protein powder about 45 min to 1 hr before I workout.

1.5 hours for sure.. reason being digestion and blood flow.. you don't want a bunch of food in your stomach because you want that blood that is needed for digestion to be available to the muscle to pump and to feed oxygen to it during the workout..

    fast acting proteins, bcaa

with that said.. i'll do a granny smith apple medium gly***ic so no insulin spike

It really depends on your goal. If you're cutting and doing cardio, some recommend hitting it on an empty stomach. If you're bulking, you need to be eating at least six times a day - pre-workout needs to be good fast digesting carbs. Just remember, the most important meal of the day is what you eat right after working out! That's the best way to get jacked.

I typically eat whole wheat pasta about 1 hour before workouts. No protein. But i also enjoy my saturday workouts when i eat a snickers bar right before a arm/delt workout. Just enough to get me through a tough workout. Then eat like a beast afterwards, depending on goals as mentioned.

Then I have 1 Spoon of natty peanut butter b4 I go to the gym and drink BCAA's during

IDK why the peanut butter but I had a few spoons b4 and it really helped with blood flow and gave me a great pump.... So I have kept doing it

disagree with this. only do fasted cardio in the morning. and is doesnt matter if bulking or cutting, u wanna eat 5-8 meals aday, what your goiing to adjust is your macros for the phase. i.e. less for cutting, more for bulking. also the most important meal of the day is breakfast b/c of fasting allnite. after pre, post and breakfast is when u wanna split your carbs up. but like everybody said, 1-1.5 hrs is a good time to pre up.

Man, I get what you're saying, but trust me... if you're doing it right, you're waking to an alarm during the night to eat. If you're training, it's a terrible idea to let yourself fast through the night.

no one is gonna wake up in the middle of the night just to eat, it doesn't matter when you eat and how many meals you eat as long as you eat enough for the day. your body doesn't experience significant decrease in available glycogen until 24 hours after your last meal.

to op, experiment with it yourself, some like to work on a full stomach others don't

I need to start reading? this is basic anatomy, your body stores nutrients for way longer that supplement companies make you believe. you probably also believe in bs like getting protein right after your workout, no carbs before bed etc etc. most solid foods themselves take 24-48 hrs to digest you think waiting a couple of hours to eat is gonna make any difference?
