    I have great abs.. but they push outward

    Im thick all over sitting at 183. To be fair if I want a flat stomach I should cut down to 170. Long story short I am genetically predisposed to abs. I can flex a six pack and have the v cuts even though im soft and only show some veins on my forearms and front delts right now.

    What I dont like is my abs go outward. They almost go out as far as my pecs. I know this is mostly a need to cut weight but I am also wondering if specific exercises can make the stomach flatter. What I dont want is to throw a bunch of effort into my ab routine and my abs still stick out or stick out any more.

    are you using weights when you work abs?

    i saw a video of dorian yates explaining why doing abs with weights gives you a "Blocky look and it spoils your physic"

    Do some planks or other isometric core exercises. Make sure u draw in hard- imagining ur pulling ur belly button into ur spine

    Here is something Twist wrote. Might give you an idea.

    "Heavy deadlifts and squats will work your core much more than abs. Doing straight situps will round your belly and that is not a good thing."


    If you do crunches, say on the floor, do them with your feet together but knees pointed outward. This will alleviate the problem of tight hip flexors. Tight hip flexors is what results in a rounded belly appearance.
