Use a mass gaining routine while cutting?

I was under the impression that you are able to use a mass gaining routine while cutting, as you are on calorie deficit you will start to loose the fat and lean up. I know that you will not be able to make gains.

I like hitting the 8-12 rep range on my workout or less reps generally, i dont want to do the 15 reps per excercise as i want to keep using same weights

Would that be ok or is it best to tailor the workout to different goals?

No need to change your routine just because you are trying to drop bodyfat. If anything this is the time when you want to keep the weights in your normal range as opposed to going higher. That said there is quite a bit of muscle to be gained in the 1O-15 rep range, that's not exactly "high" reps.

Thanks for the reply, I have never trained in the 15 rep ranges as i easily get exhausted and the weights that i lift drop significantly especially on the compound excercises, (just feels like i need like a 5+ mins break when i hit high rep ranges). Maybe in the future i will give it a try.

a mass gaining routine will fail since you can't recover nearly as fast, sticking to those mid-high rep ranges are gonna make you lose a lot of strength

It is quite possible to get stronger on a cut and I agree that you should follow a hypertrophy/strength workout when cutting. I alternate 4-6 rep weeks with 8-10 rep weeks when cutting whilst aiming to improve my lifts every workout.

If you lose alot of weight quickly or start dropping below 10%bf your strength may suffer.
