Flexibility
I understand the importance of stretching and being flexible, but it hurts so damn much!!! It hurts more than lifting weights sometimes! Is this just something I'll have to "grin and bear"?
Are there any good books or web sites for easy effective stretching?

stretching should not hurt!!! you should feel a slight pulling, but not pain. try going easier, and stretch after every set

I guess it's mostly my hamstrings that truly hurt.

It shouldn't hurt.
Try stretching easy nnd slow, stretch a bit, rest 5 sec, and over few times.

good rules for stretching
there are alot of factors that influence flexibility
1.)the tightness of your skin
2.)the elasticity of the muscle tissue you are stretching(so use full ROM when you are training)
those are two factors that BB face
when you stretch A.)stretch til you feel tension, not pain B.) hold for 10 seconds C.) do 4 sets each 10-15 seconds
if you stretch to the limit of complete flexibility don't worry about muscle tears because your muscle's spindels will keep you from injury.just stay away from ballistic stretching!!

That's good info. I've always been told "stretch 'til it hurts" by football and baseball coaches. I guess that's why I am averse to stretching. I also didn't know to do as many as 4 sets.
