Getting headache when hitting the heavy bag, any ideas?

So, whenever I punch the heavy bag I'm getting a headache with almost every punch. This is not allowing me to train as I want as I'm not able to do any bag work. Not sure what could possibly be causing this and was curious if any of you have any tips or ideas as to what the cause of this could possible be?

how long have you bbeen training this way? if just starting out, suggest just working through it. if the pain is a recent thing, AND being IN the ring is a regular thing for you, it could be something as simple as a sinus/ear infection. But it could also be something else. Maybe give it a rest for a couple of days and see if it goes away?

It is completely new and doesn't happen all the time. It's not from sparring or being hit and I had an MRI done in November after I had a surgery and everything came up fine. I've read that it could be a sinus infection and that could def. make sense or could be a cause of processed sugars which I drink soda. Maybe I just need to get off the soda (which I know I do) and drink even more water and see what happens then?

    Soda baaaaaad.
    Water goooooood.

Start with that and see if headaches improve. So many possible causes. Any other activity increase headaches?

you had an MRI after surgery? you had surgery, where?

look. I played around with boxing while in the army. mostly i was a runner, but i boxed some too. and let me tell ya, getting hit in the head hurts. but if you are already past the newb point in boxing where the pain subsides, then I'd suggest ttaking a day or two off. And I doubt it has anything to do with sodas. if it continues after you take a short break, then consider going to the doc and tell him what you are telling us.

    other thoughts.
can you clear your ears easily? you know, pinch the nose closed, then gently try to blow air through it and it will increase pressure at the ear drum. can you do that pain free? if not, then maybe another clue you have some kind of ear/sinus infection.

I think it was just stress because it went away and hasn't come back.
