Power bodybuilding
Hello,
Was wondering if anyone ever heard of Mike O'hearn Power building workout?
Basically you go for 4 rep 7 sets the first 4 weeks on compounds movement squats, dead and bench.
and do leg press 5 sets of 10 reps and leg extension 5x10. with dead would one arm row 5x10 ect.. Bench flat bench barbell 5x10 ect.. on seperate days of course.
Then in 5-8 weeks you drop it to 3 reps of 7 sets and 9-12 weeks you drop to 2x7. but still do the same with 5 sets of 10 reps on the secondary workouts.
So for the first 4 weeks he ask you to up your calories to 500 whatever you were starting at and do 30 mintues of moderate cardio at night while you do your workouts in the morning. the from week 5-8 ask you to drop 500 calories and up your cardio to 45 min. and lastly from week 9-12 ask you to drop another 500 calorie and up your cardio to 1:00 hour.
Basically what I am trying to get at is if you start a 12 week cycle you'll eventually be able to gain strength and mass at the same time get lean. and by the time you get to PCT (after the 12 week program) you can go back to UP your calories and change workouts and lift heavy while not losing your gains.
I am not in any way planning to do this or planning to do a cycle anytime soon: This is just a food for thought and would like to hear others people opinion.

That sounds interesting... Maybe after the workout program go for a 10x10 (GV) to confuse the muscle for hypertrophy to maximize gains.

Yeah or even a high calorie, ''HST'' work out would work very well to keep gains.
I would think even with a simple 12 week Test-E cycle you would get awesome results on this program. Mike O'Hearn is a Beast and he's 43 I think. He says he is natural. But if that is true at age 43 the way he looks now gives me hope.

i respect Mike a lot...
but if we talk about this power bodybuilding stuff - its just a routine...
first of all - there is no muscle growth without strenght gains, because strenght=proportionate to cross-section of the muscle field(this must sound awful...im not from english speaking country so its hard to translate biological stuff) - what it means is - the bigger the muscle, the more strenght you have.
you can workout like Mentzer trained Markus Reinhardt but if your muscle grows, the strenght will grow too, so the whole concept of power or non-power bodybuilding is just a "cool sounding name" because there is no bodybuilding without the power... its like calling Nascar a "gasoline powered driving" but we all know that there is no driving without gasoline anyway, so why the stupid title?
as far as the routine goes - if it feels good for you, do it... it doesn't really matter - no workout or routine changes will change the way you are ment to progress...
the guys that are Mr.O would be there if they would change they workouts a bit... and the guys that will never reach that level, will never reach that level no matter what they do when they workout.
workout routine is just like a car - as far as it is correctly made it will get you from point A to point B and the difference between BMW X3 and BMW X6 is just your choice and prefference of what you like better...
all the correct workout routines are like cars in one price range or like all the beautiful girls on the street - the same thing, you just choose which one you like better because the sake of your personal taste/preference or whatever its called in english.
