Always alone. Sometimes I think it would be nice to train with someone and them I see all the guys in my gym who do train together spend more time chatting than anything. It's hard to find someone that's on the same page with their motivation.

i found a training partner a little over 2yrs ago and couldent imgine not training with out him now...for the record i trained alone for 8yrs prior to finding him...like was said its so rare to find someone whom is a into lifting as you are so when you do it can be awsome...we push eachother hard and my gains have been great so far...

alone...all the groups of training partners at my gym sit around like little gossup girls and never shut the fuzz up.

I hope for this someday. I would prefer to work out with someone. I used to lift with my wife and she was a great lifting partner other then us needing to strip my weights off to put hers on if we were sharing one bench or other free weight apparatus. The rest of the time we would take turns using dumbbells or barbells. We could each spot during our rest. I didn't mind using a few more machines/cables when she lifted with me.

I would love to train alone but my lieutenant insist on training with me. He slows me down a little but I suppose it's ok. He is 46 and has made great progress. I just prefer to train alone.

With a partner

I've never had a serious training partner. my son goes to the gym with me from time to time, but after we get there, he does his thing and i do mine....
If i had a serious training partner, i can see how beneficial in the motivational department. but i wouldn't want this to turn into a social or BS session, so i don't know....

I guess I am one of the lucky ones. My training partner is an older bodybuilder/marine. It's all business in the gym and this big dude pushes me to the max. He indicated that in all of the years he's been working out, I am the one training partner who has lasted the longest. He mentioned that most dudes only lasted a few weeks, then give up. I am telling you, the old is tough.

I need to train with someone. I thrive on the competitive rivalry and always push myself harder.

training with a partner is great but... going lone wolf is so much better IMO, theres more focus, more mental intensity, the only thing that sucks is if its chest day
because i push so much harder with a spotter on bench (rightfully so) but hey, you can always ask for a spot

Alone. I'm in and out with an intense workout in an hour to an hour & a half at most.

Alone....for all of the above stated reasons. I did lift with one friend who was crazy into bodybuilding for a while, and I was getting great workouts. But then he got into selling amway and wouldn't stop harassing me about it, damn shame haha.

A partner has it's advantages and disadvantages. I hate when they call you 10 minutes before workout and cancel. Or come in and say they went out the night before or didn't sleep well, or a hundred other excuses not to all out that day.
So i got sick of it and train by myself now. Have for years. It's easy to find a spotter if i need one. Plus, i'm out of there in half the time w/same or better workout.

I prefer training by myself when I can just because like notes above: people canceling or coming to the gym and dragging ass which ultimately brings down your moral for the workout.
But when I'm doing heavy lifts, mainly on the bench, I like to have someone there to spot me and push me to push out another rep.
You just need to find someone who's as dedicated as you are at the time or has similar goals ya know

I have had a partner for a year or so but I like going alone, because there are absolutely zero distractions. I don't like talking during a workout because my concentration is broken. I can always ask for a random spotter if need be.

Alone. Wouldn't mine training with someone if the opportunity were to present itself. I doubt anyone could hang with me on my erratic schedule. They would get too frustrated.
